Lots of info from the doctor at the Holtorf Medical Group. The doctor went through Alison's extensive new patient form, examined her, asked a lot of questions, and talked about Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, Lyme disease, adrenal and thyroid issues, opportunistic infections taking advantage of a compromised immune system, candida, Epstein-Barr, hormone imbalances and the apparent dysfunction of the mitochondrial inability to utilize ATP correctly (which causes Alison to take hours or days to recover from exercise rather than minutes).
Next step is to get some more tests done to confirm or rule out some of his suspicions. Meanwhile she has some supplements to take to help bring her energy levels up. She has to make some big changes in her diet, switching to a managed insulin release/low glycemic diet. No coffee (ugh!), dairy, wheat, sugar, etc.
It's a lot to take in and manage but we feel this is a big step in the direction of Alison's return to health.
One question on my mind - this is so much of what I have also, could there be a genetic link? Time for more research.
